The new tab page is the most-viewed page in your browser. Most people open it dozens of times a day, and by default it's a search box and a row of recently visited sites — which mostly sends you back to the same distractions. CentPage replaces it with a dashboard you design: the sites you actually use, a search bar that can query several engines, and widgets that answer small questions without opening another tab.
What you get on every new tab
Your sites, organised
CentPage started life as an all-in-one internet homepage, and its core is still a fast, categorised directory of the web's most useful sites. Add your own custom tables of links — “Work”, “Finance”, “Reading” — and rearrange everything with drag and drop in edit mode. Free accounts get one custom table of eight links; Premium gets five.
Multi-engine search
Search Google, Bing or Yahoo from the same box, with category options for web, images, videos and news, so comparing results is one click instead of a new tab per engine.
50 widgets
Widgets turn the page into a small dashboard. Many are free, and Premium unlocks the rest:
| Category | Free widgets include | Premium adds |
|---|---|---|
| Productivity | Sticky notes, to-do list, calendar, Pomodoro timer, clock & timer | Link list, habit tracker, expense tracker, subscription manager |
| Finance | Currency converter | Investment growth, tax/EMI/loan, stocks, crypto, precious metals |
| Information | Weather, sun & moon, daily fact, word of the day, on this day, periodic table, AI tips | Dictionary, astronomy picture of the day, air quality |
| Utilities | Calculator, unit converter, language translator | QR & barcode, password generator, speed test, typing test, developer toolbox |
| Lifestyle | Daily recipe, jokes, motivational quotes | Movies & OTT radar, YouTube feed, lofi player, wellness tools |
Why a better new tab page helps
- Fewer detours. The answer to “what's the weather?” or “how much is that in euros?” is already on the page.
- Intentional browsing. Your chosen links replace the most-visited tiles that pull you back into feeds.
- A place for small tasks. Notes and to-dos live where you look dozens of times a day, so they actually get seen.
- Fewer tabs. When tools live on the new tab, you stop opening a tab per tool — which matters if you already have too many tabs.
Set it up in five minutes
- 1
Install
Add CentPage from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. If the browser asks whether to keep the new tab page change, choose to keep it.
- 2
Create an account
Sign up on centpage.com so your layout, links and widgets follow you.
- 3
Build your link table
Add the eight sites you open most. Use clear names — they're faster to scan than icons.
- 4
Choose three widgets
Start small: weather, to-do list and Pomodoro is a great default. Add more only if you use them.
- 5
Arrange
Enter edit mode, drag widgets and categories into place and save.
Pairs well with
Add a Web Archive Viewer link to your custom table so the Wayback Machine is always one click away, and use Super Session Manager to save project windows before you close them. For a distraction-free layout built around deep work, read setting up a focus dashboard.
