Web Archive Viewer is a product operated by SummaryTube.

This Privacy Policy explains how SummaryTube ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of Web Archive Viewer, collects and uses personal data when you use the browser extension (for Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox) and the website at webinternetarchive.com (together, the "Service"). SummaryTube is the data controller for the Service. Web Archive Viewer is the product name and branding; it is not a separate legal entity.

Web Archive Viewer is a browser extension that looks up the page you are on (or any URL you paste) across public web archives such as the Wayback Machine and Archive.today. Finding and opening archived pages never requires an account. Signing in is optional and only needed for Pro features and the cloud research library.

Current tab URL

The extension reads the address of the active tab only when you open the popup (the activeTab permission). The URL is used to build archive links and, if you use data features, sent to our API to look up captures. It is not stored beyond a short server-side cache of the archive response.

Links on a page

Only when you click “Links on this page” in Bulk lookup (Pro), the extension reads the link addresses on the current page (the scripting permission) and adds them to your lookup list. They are sent to our API only if you then run the lookup. No other page content is read.

Recent lookups

The last 12 URLs you looked up are kept in the extension’s local storage on your device only, and can be cleared from the popup.

Account

If you sign in with Google (Supabase Auth), we process your account id, email, name and avatar to authenticate you and apply your plan. The extension stores a session token on your device so it can call our API on your behalf.

Research library

Items you save (URL, archive, capture timestamp, title, note, tags) are stored on your device on the Free plan and, on Pro, in our database linked to your account so they sync across devices.

Evidence reports

Reports you create (Pro) — archive links, capture dates, change summaries, metadata and short excerpts of archived pages — are stored in our database linked to your account. Anyone you give a report’s share link can view it; you can delete reports from your account.

Archive lookups

Our API forwards lookups to public archives (archive.org, archive-it.org, arquivo.pt and others) and caches their answers for up to 24 hours. We never store archived page bodies.

Payments

Paid plans are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record; we do not store your full card number on our servers. We keep the Paddle subscription and customer ids, plan, billing status and transaction amounts needed to apply your plan and answer billing questions.

Support & feedback

Messages you send through the contact form, the extension feedback form or the anonymous uninstall survey are stored so we can reply and improve the product.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. When you buy Pro, Paddle collects and processes your name, email address, billing address, payment details and tax information in order to take payment, calculate and remit sales tax / VAT, prevent fraud, and handle invoices, refunds and customer service enquiries. Paddle acts as an independent controller of that data under the Paddle Privacy Policy and the Paddle Buyer Terms. Paddle shares with us only what we need to provide the Service: your email address, the product and plan you bought, transaction and subscription status, country, and the customer and subscription ids. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.

• To provide the Service you asked for — archive lookups, your account, Pro features, the library and reports (performance of a contract).
• To bill and comply with law — keeping purchase records and meeting tax and accounting duties (legal obligation).
• To keep the Service secure and improve it — preventing abuse, enforcing daily quotas and reading feedback you send (legitimate interests).
• Service emails — sign-in, purchase and account messages; any product or offer emails include an unsubscribe link and you can opt out at any time.

activeTab lets the popup read the current page's address when you open it. storage and alarms keep your sign-in and plan on the device and refresh it in the background. The only host permission is for webinternetarchive.com, our own website, so the extension can pick up your sign-in from it. The extension never reads or changes the content of other websites you visit.

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not run analytics, telemetry or advertising SDKs inside the extension.
• We do not crawl, archive or store the pages you visit.
• We do not track your browsing history.

Archive lookups reach the archives' own services under their own privacy policies (for example the Internet Archive). Authentication and data storage use Supabase; payments use Paddle; hosting uses Vercel. Some Pro analysis features (such as Visual Compare screenshots) send the archived capture URLs involved to Apify, which renders or fetches them on our servers' behalf; no account details are sent. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their respective terms. Paddle processes payment data as described in Payments and Paddle above. Some of these providers are located outside your country (including the United States); where required we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for those transfers.

webinternetarchive.com sets only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Paddle's checkout may set its own cookies when you open it, under Paddle's privacy policy.

Account and library data are kept while your account exists. Archive lookup caches expire within 24 hours and are purged after 7 days at most. To delete your account and all associated data, email webarchivecom@gmail.com from the address you signed in with; we complete deletion within 30 days. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored on your device.

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us at webarchivecom@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Data is sent over HTTPS, and database access is restricted per account with row-level security. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Web Archive Viewer does not target children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The effective date above changes when we do, and material changes are announced on the website. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
